EC Harris becomes the first RICS regulated firm in
Singapore
13 September 2011
EC Harris has become the first firm in
Singapore to sign up as a registered firm by the Royal Institution
of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Since 2007 RICS has encouraged members to register their firms
and to publicise them as being 'Regulated by RICS'. The framework
of the system is driven by the five rules of better regulation.
These are proportionality, accountability, consistency, targeting
and transparency. In this way those who deal with such firms can be
confident that the firm has adopted the highest standards of
professional dealing. In Hong Kong, there are some 30 firms
registered as "Regulated by RICS".
Scott Forbes, Singapore Location Leader at EC Harris said, "EC
Harris is very proud to be the first regulated by RICS company in
Singapore. This demonstrates the level of our professional and
ethical standards."
Ian Thomas, Senior Regulatory Development Manager for RICS Asia
said, "We are delighted at the response that we have had to the
registration of firms in Singapore and we are pleased to
acknowledge the achievement of EC Harris in being the first firm to
be registered. EC Harris has clearly re-affirmed its commitment to
conducting its business in conformity with the highest standards,
the 'gold-standard' that is the RICS regulatory framework."
