EC Harris Wins Major Nuclear Decommissioning Project
with Magnox

EC Harris, the international Built Asset
Consultancy, has been appointed by Magnox Limited to provide a
commercial services framework to support its work decommissioning
the UK’s first generation of nuclear power stations.
EC Harris will provide commercial management services and
consultancy solutions to support the Magnox procurement and
contracting strategies. Magnox operates 10 nuclear licensed sites,
which are owned by the government’s Nuclear Decommissioning
Authority, including Oldbury – the world’s oldest operating nuclear
power station.
John Vieth, Magnox Supply Chain Development and Relations
Manager, said: “The contract, which will be worth around £5m, will
support Magnox’s approach towards delivering its decommissioning
programme over the coming years.

Work on the project began last month and the contract will run
until the middle of 2013.

management and operations contractor for the Magnox sites in the
UK. Under contract to the owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning
Authority, the company is responsible for electricity generation at
Wylfa, Oldbury and Maentwrog, defueling at Chapelcross, Dungeness A
and Sizewell A, and the decommissioning of Hunterston A, Berkeley,
Hinkley Point A, Bradwell and Trawsfynydd. The work at
Bradwell and Trawsfynydd is being accelerated to support a move to
