Planning Application Submitted By EC Harris For Central Square
In Leeds
6th September 2012
EC Harris has submitted a planning application for 262,000ft² of
commercial space at Central Square in Leeds, the new commercial
development on the former Lumiere site in the heart of the city
centre and circa 100m from the station.
The proposed scheme has been designed by award winning
architects Aedas and comprises two buildings of approximately
89,000ft² and 173,000ft² arranged over 8 and 11 floors, which front
both Wellington Street and Whitehall Road and surround a central
public open space. The focus of the scheme is top quality Grade A
office accommodation, with the potential to accommodate a hotel in
the smaller building and retail on ground floor facing onto the
public realm.
The scheme, which is being promoted by EC Harris as the Asset
Manager, on behalf of Deloitte (The Liquidator), was presented to
Leeds City Council and at a public consultation in July 2012,
receiving many positive responses.
Roger Thompson, Development Management Partner at EC Harris
said: “The development plans for the site which have taken
shape are the product of several months’ hard work and
collaboration from an excellent team. The result is a design of a
scale and quality commensurate with the importance of the site and
the City. We look forward to continuing to work with Leeds City
Council to ensure the application submitted is approved as soon as
possible.”
It is hoped that planning permission will be granted before the
end of 2012.
